Carved wooden mask for Yinka Shonibare CBE RA, Frieze London, 2023
In 2023, I was commissioned to carve an historic West African mask for artist Yinka Shonibare CBE RA.
The Bamana Ntomo mask featured as part of Yinka's art works with Stephen Friedman Gallery at Frieze London in October 2023.
With only a photograph as a reference, this mask is first modelled in clay before hand carving in laminated sheets of Quebec pine.
