Carved wooden sun masks for Yinka Shonibare CBE RA, Art Basel, 2023
In 2022, I was commissioned to carve and age two Bwa sun masks for artist Yinka Shonibare CBE RA.
These masks featured as part of Yinka's art works with Stephen Friedman Gallery at Art Basel in June 2023.
With only a photograph as a reference, these masks are first modelled in clay before hand carving in laminated sheets of Quebec pine.
