Carved wooden headdress for Yinka Shonibare CBE RA, Art Basel, 2022
In 2022, I was commissioned to carve an historic Baga D’mba headdress for artist Yinka Shonibare CBE RA.
This headdress featured as part of Yinka's art works with Stephen Friedman Gallery at Art Basel in June 2022.
With only a photograph as a reference, this piece is first modelled in clay before hand carving in laminated sheets of Quebec pine.
